Electronic Payment Safety

Electronic payments like Venmo, CashApp and Zelle are everywhere these days. Unfortunately, so are bad actors looking to compromise your payments and your data. Here are some important tips to keep your money safe:

• Make device security a top priority. Use a device password and multi-factor authentication to block unwanted access. Update your apps, software and operating system regularly. Maintain physical security of your device too; be sure you know who has access to your devices.

• If you use electronic payments for both business and personal payments, be sure to create separate accounts for each. This helps document transactions and make any fraudulent transactions easier to narrow down. Regularly check your bank activity to spot unauthorized activity.

• Avoid using public Wi-fi. When possible, use an encrypted network.

• Link apps to credit cards – not bank accounts. Doing so provides greater fraud protection.
